Fair relationships
We build direct partnerships with artisans and aim to compensate their work fairly.
We believe a rug should bring more than beauty into a room. It should carry the care of its maker, the warmth of its origins, and a story worth keeping.

Rooted in Morocco, we work directly with talented artisans and through our own workshop in Marrakech to bring you authentic, handmade rugs. Each piece reflects generations of craftsmanship, thoughtful details, and the beauty of something made by human hands.

We work directly with Moroccan weaving cooperatives and independent artisans, reducing unnecessary middlemen and helping ensure that skilled work receives fair compensation.
Alongside these partnerships, we operate our own workshop in Marrakech, supporting women from our local community and the skills they bring to this living craft.
For us, a rug is never just an object. It represents time, knowledge, and the person who made it.
We regularly visit the friends, families, and cooperatives we work with across rural communities in the Atlas Mountains and beyond. These are relationships built over time, through conversations, visits, and shared respect for the craft.
Some women weave from home, while others work together. We also carefully select vintage rugs, respecting the lives they have already lived and restoring them when needed.

We seek to understand each rug's origin and inspect its workmanship and quality.
We value natural wool, enduring traditional methods, and giving vintage pieces new life.
We support women artisans, local workshops, and the communities that sustain this craft.

Authentic Moroccan rugs are woven or knotted on traditional looms, often taking weeks to complete. Natural wool, patient hands, and individual decisions give each piece its own character.
A machine can reproduce a pattern. It cannot replicate the subtle variations, personal expression, and human history of a handwoven rug.
Those small differences are not flaws to erase. They are what makes the rug yours alone.
These artistic textile portraits explore the beauty, personality, and expressive possibilities of handmade rugs.

An artistic series inspired by rugs and textiles.
From contemporary pieces woven today to vintage rugs carefully selected and restored, we choose objects with character and a story to tell. Our work is guided by quality, respect for the makers, and a wish to share Moroccan craftsmanship with the world.
When you welcome a Surcoma rug into your home, you welcome a piece of Moroccan craftsmanship and help sustain the communities who practice it.
Thank you for choosing something made with intention, patience, and care.
